Low-Code, Big Risks: Why Security Awareness is Crucial for Citizen Developers

Intro:
With just a few clicks and drags, you can create powerful applications that drive business processes and innovation. But with great power comes great responsibility. As more citizen developers dive into low-code platforms, the importance of security awareness has never been more critical. Imagine this: you're a passionate Power Platform user, constantly pushing the boundaries of what's possible with your automations. But how do you stay informed about the latest security vulnerabilities that could impact your creations? Enter Google Alerts and automated RSS feeds.

In this blog I would help you through the steps to set up Google Alerts and automate your weekly RSS feed, ensuring you're always in the loop about the latest security issues. Let's dive in and make security awareness a cornerstone of your low-code development journey!

Setup:
Setting up Google Alerts for Power Platform security incidents is straightforward. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Go to Google Alerts: Visit Google Alerts.
  2. Sign In: Make sure you're signed in with your Google account.
  3. Create an Alert:
    • In the search box at the top, enter keywords like "Power Platform security incident" or "Power Apps vulnerability".
    • Use quotation marks to search for exact phrases, e.g., "Power Platform security incident".
  4. Customize Your Alert:
    • Click on "Show options" to customize your alert settings.
    • Choose how often you want to receive alerts (e.g., as-it-happens, once a day, once a week).
    • Select the sources (news, blogs, web, etc.), language, and region.
    • Choose how many results you want to see (all results or only the best results).
    • Specify where you want the alerts delivered (your email or an RSS feed).
  5. Create Alert: Click the "Create Alert" button to finalize.
