From "Never Engineering" to "Why Not?"

Remember sharing those engineering memes in school? Yeah, I was that kid who said

I'll never do engineering

Fast forward to today - I'm three years into my engineering degree. Life's funny that way.

I am an Accidental Engineer. After 12th, I had zero plans. My dreams ranged from becoming an astronaut to being a pro gamer to YouTube fame (we've all been there, right?). When my parents suggested engineering, I just shrugged and said okay. Didn't even research colleges properly (big mistake - your environment matters more than you think).
First three years? Mostly went with the flow. Online classes, bare minimum studying, just doing enough to get by. My college vibe wasn't great either - everyone was either chilling too hard or just cramming for exams.

The Wake-Up Call
At the end of 6th semester, I went to a hackathon, and damn it was a wake-up call. Saw students from other colleges building these amazing projects, presenting their ideas like pros, and actually enjoying what they were doing. For the first time, I realized engineering could be… fun.

Where I'm At Now
Now, I’m learning development, building projects, and sharpening my skills. I’m not crushing it yet, but at least I’m moving forward. And the best part? I’m enjoying the process.

Well,
If you're feeling lost in engineering:

  • Don't let your surroundings define your limits
  • Balance the fun with learning - you can do both.
  • Dive into the dev world. It’s way cooler than it looks from the outside.

To my first-year self (and maybe to you): Forget what engineering looks like in movies or memes. Create your own path. Trust me, building stuff is way more fun than just going through the motions.

I'm still figuring things out, still learning, still messing up sometimes. But I am pretty sure I'll get things right this time!
